Text Box: School Announcements
A reminder to all teachers that we will begin our new DEAR program on Monday, January 28th.  Please make certain that you are reviewing the strategies assigned to each day of the week.  Teachers are also asked to extend the strategies into all other periods of the school day.  Please see Ms. Huffman or Ms. Fenton if you need additional assistance with this item.
Landon will have an “In School Basketball Game” on January 29th during the last period of the day.  The school will follow a regular bell schedule on that day.  Ms. Cummings will be forwarding a duty schedule for this event.
Landon will host tours at 9, 11, and 1 o’clock on Wednesday of this week.  A modified bell schedule for this day is attached to the Lion’s Den Email.
During Early Release on Wednesday, February 7th teachers will be reviewing FCAT Bell Ringers and reviewing NWEA data.  Please bring your data notebooks with you to training.
Project PASS is a weekend program which provides tutorial assistance to students in preparation for the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT).  The initiative also has a unique component that has been designed to empower, educate, and motivate parents/guardians.  Students from Landon are eligible to attend. Please see Ms. Shabazz for more information.
A reminder to all DCPS employees that the district’s new website, as of February 1st, will be www.duvalschools.org.

We continue to ask that teachers remain at their doorways to monitor student behavior during the change of classes.

Text Box: Focus on the FCAT…..
We all know that there is never enough time to do all that needs doing, but perhaps these questions might be used to help in your planning as we strive to make the most of our instructional time before FCAT.
 1.  Are our students reading higher level texts and more often? (not only in the ELA classes)
 2.  Are teachers working together on the team to analyze and discuss student work?  Does the discussion and analysis lead to changes in teaching and learning?
 3.  Where was the student academically when the year began?  (based on the available data)
 4.  What is the student's current academic progress?  (based on any available data)
 5.  What is the projection for this student on FCAT reading, math, writing, and science? (based on available data)

6.  Is there anything else that the team can do to help struggling students move to the next level?
