School Board meetings are open to the public. People are encouraged to attend and present their comments on matters which are before the Board for consideration. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the 1st Floor Board Room, 1701 Prudential Drive, unless otherwise indicated.

How to address the School Board:

  • Fill out a comment card and turn in by 6:20 p.m.
  • When called upon, people are expected to speak into the microphone and give their names and organization, if representing one.
  • Comments are limited to no more than three (3) minutes.
  • Speakers are notified when they have 30 seconds remaining to complete remarks.
  • Speakers are requested to refrain from references to specific individuals.
  • If comments exceed the three (3) minute limit, speakers are encouraged to present written comments.
  • Written comments are made part of the official minutes and record of the meeting.

The purpose of the public hearing is for the Board to receive input from the community. It is not the Board's intent to respond to each individual speaker, but for the Board to use the input received in its deliberations.

Respect and courtesy are to be afforded to all speakers. Members of the audience are asked to refrain from audible comments and/or applause during the meeting.

If there are questions or concerns regarding the schools or matters before the Board, people may contact a School Board district representative or call the district office at (904) 390-2000.

Don't know who the School Board representative is for an area? Visit the Duval County Supervisor of Elections site and input your address in the Polling Site Locator. Hit submit and scroll to the bottom of the page to find the School Board district representative listing.
