The Duval County Public Schools Communications Department serves the district's communication needs in the following areas:

Jim Streit leads all operations of the communication's department, often drawing on his 35 years of experience as a newspaper publisher.

Public Relations

Jill Johnson
Supervisor, Media Relations & External Communications

The supervisor of media relations and external communications leads all of the district's proactive, reactive and crisis communications efforts; plans and executes public information programs and strategies that promote school district policies, programs, events and priorities with external audiences; and interfaces with media outlets on a daily basis.

Myra Simmons
Technical Manager, Communications

Myra Simmons is responsible for maintaining and updating district directories and creating and disseminating School Zone, a bi-weekly e-newsletter to the district's 14,000+ employees. Myra also coordinates and scripts the presentations to honor special achievements at the monthly meetings of the Duval County School Board.

Kristina Broome
Technical Manager, Communications

Kristina Broome is responsible for communicating news, events and information to school employees, parents and community members by creating and distributing dcps eNews, and writing articles for Spotlight on Education. Kristina also coordinates the Good News Ambassador program, which in conjunction with schools and district departments, helps to create publicity for special events.

Web & Visual Communications; TV Productions

Keith Pittman

The supervisor of web & visual arts manages and maintains the content of the district web site and provides support for the more than 160 school-based web sites. He also provides graphic design support for internal departments through the creation of brochures, posters, booklets, etc. 

Altoria White
Television Production Coordinator

The television production coordinator produces the following monthly half-hour television shows: REAL School, School Matters & Brain Brawl. The television production coordinator also oversees the production of the monthly school board meeting and produces the district's Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and videos for internal clients.
