A. Philip Randolph students win District Competition

Five students from A. Philip Randolph Career Academy (Randolph) won first-place honors at the Regional Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Competition held February 2 in Orange Park, Florida. HOSA promotes career training among secondary and post-secondary institutions.

Randolph Academies' first-place winners are Jeannie Gonzalez, Chapter Newsletter; Nickell Holsey, Knowledge Test – Human Growth and Development; Reggie Thomas, Dental Terminology; Jasmine Sanchez, Extemporaneous Speaking; and Melissa Figgins, Courtesy Corp. The second-place winners are Jeannie Gonzalez, Medical Terminology; Linnie Crudup, Job Seeking Skills; and Sarah Edenfield, Courtesy Corp. Other winners include third-place winners Corey Thomas, Nursing Assistant, and Evangeline Perona, Courtesy Corp., as well as fourth-place winner Jocelyn Burton, Medical Math.

These students will move on to compete at the State HOSA this April in Orlando, and students that received first-place honors are eligible to apply for a two-year scholarship to FCCJ.

A. Philip Randolph Academies of Technology is a career and college preparatory magnet focused on providing a rigorous academic curriculum for students interested in IT, Energy – Manufacturing & Construction, Health Science, Public Safety/Criminal Justice, Cosmetology, and Fire & Rescue.
