Duval Schools Receive Awards From Magnet Schools of America
Pine Forest Elementary School of the Arts and John N.C. Stockton Elementary were awarded for a commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful desegregation/diversity efforts and the consistent delivery of quality services to all stakeholders.
Pine Forest School of the Arts was named a National Magnet School of Excellence, and will be competing for cash awards totaling $8,500. Pine Forest is a visual and performing arts magnet dedicated to excellence in academics and the arts.
The National Magnet School of Distinction Award was given to John N.C. Stockton Elementary, whose mission is to promote academic excellence within a safe, nurturing learning community where all stakeholders collaborate to meet the needs of every student.
"We are so pleased that the hard work of our students and educators is being recognized," said Duval County Public Schools Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals. "The students, parents and staff are all deeply committed to learning and strive daily to exemplify the goals of a magnet school."
The awards will be presented to both schools during the Magnet Schools of America national conference on April 30 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
