Duval County School Board recognizes students, staff and community
JACKSONVILLE - At the monthly meeting of the Duval County School Board (DCSB), Board members and Superintendent Pratt-Dannals recognized several groups of students, staff and a member of the community for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to Duval County Public Schools.
During the presentation portion of the meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. in the Cline Auditorium, 1701 Prudential Drive, the following people were recognized:
- Quantum Mines, a seventh grade student at Southside Middle School, was recognized for winning the Javamo Coffee Art Contest;
- Monique Henry, a junior at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, was recognized for winning the 2008 Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Competition;
- Douglas Anderson School of the Arts was recognized for being named a Grammy Signature School by the Grammy Foundation. The school also received the foundation’s Gold Award;
- Frank H. Peterson student, Deborah MacArthur and Douglas Anderson students Miguel Lugo and Myrah Fisher, were recognized for winning the Joan Bodwitch Young Writer’s Award;
The following students were recognized for being winners at the Career Education Clubs of Florida's State Leadership Conference:
